The Venomous Silker Trappas is a predatory species that live within the feral forest regions of Garden Terra II.
The species is much akin to a spider, with it’s body featuring notable segments. A head, a torso, and a tail segment are all distinguishable. Armoured in a thick plating, it’s aesthetic is almost akin to that of a dragon, although this makes the creatures far harder to combat, as the natural armour will repel most kinetic damage.
The head features no visible eyes, but instead a 'ring' around it's mouth. This ring appears to be an armoured visor, that protects sensory organs. The exact methods of vision are not fully known. As the creature is seemingly able to hunt and track prey effortlessly, even in darkness, it was thought that they functioned as heat sensory organs, however, it is able to navigate complex terrain as well. This creature has no disadvantage when it comes to sensory perception.
The mouth dominates most of the head, able to stretch open much like a snake, the creatures seem to prefer ingesting their prey whole, alive or otherwise, to digest them over a number of days. Either side of the mouth, are large dagger-like fangs for biting into, and gripping prey. Lining the jaws are small, hook-like teeth.
The torso is large compared to the head, a long form that is typically mostly stomach, for storing food that was captured for long bouts of digestion. Whilst there is little of interest on the exterior, on the spine there are four stingers spikes that lay flat against the scale. These stingers can extend outwards on long tendrils, easily several times longer then the creature’s body length, and can release a powerful paralytic venom. Small enough creatures will die to this venom, whilst larger creatures will find themselves affected for sometimes days, depending on the dosage.
It’s worth noting that these stingers tendrils are highly flexible, strong, and dexterous, able to be used as additional limbs to grip things. On it’s back also, are two long ‘wing-like’ limbs. These fold out to cover the creature, acting as a deployable ‘shell’ of sorts to defend itself against attack. Overlapping, large armoured plating makes it near impenetrable to kinetic attacks.
Either side of the body, are three legs, for a total of six. These legs have three segments to them, and end in three-toed claws. With a strong grip, and being highly dexterous, the creature is able to cross even challenging terrain.
The tail is long and segmented. Housing the creature’s silk organs and reproductive organs, the limb is easily flexible enough to reach underneath to any prey caught in the creature’s grip.
The creature, whilst it can hunt and chase down prey, will often use it’s silk to build traps. Often, these take the form of high-tension strands that stretch from an anchor high up, to the ground, the ground anchor breaking when something tugs. The result is the prey being lifted from the floor, often through other waiting strands, and ‘netting’ left to bind.
The creature will also use this silk to build durable nests for itself.
The creatures are hermaphrodite in nature, and do not reproduce with their own kind. In their tails, are a womb that produces eggs, and a seed ‘sack’ that produces sperm. They have both a shaft, and an ovipositor that push free from an opening on their tail tip.
Typically, they will ensnare prey, and lay unfertilised eggs within them, before then emptying their egg sack within, however they will occasionally hunt down their own kind, forcing eggs into wombs, and seed into seed sacks, as to force the victims to reproduce for them.
Whilst members are often smooth, the tip is narrow for burying into tight places, and is often long to ensure it can reach as deep as possible within victims. The ovipositor however, is far more textured. Heavily ridged, the tip is arrow-like, designed for lodging in past cervixes. The tip can then open like a flower's petals, with sharp hooks on the tips to grip the inside of the womb. The ridged length then propels the eggs inwards to lay them against the walls of the womb, with a glue-like ooze to help keep them in place.
After, the creature will then typically seed the victim, the smooth shaft allowing them to effectively bury, and the narrow tip allowing them to get to the laid eggs. After seeding, they will typically produce a thick 'plug' to seal the cervix shut, ensuring the victim cannot expel the eggs and seed.
