Phoenix-born creatures, are a sub-sect of species that exists across the boundaries of other species. Whilst most commonly seen in avians, this unique genetic abnormality can appear in almost any creature of almost any type.

Whilst appearing like a genetic mutation at first, closer study reveals that it’s a mutation that cannot come from normal means, such as errors in copying or damage to the genome. Instead, it’s a mutation that requires very specific outside influence in order to take root.

More specifically, it seems that the abundance of Radiance near a receptive creature can cause this change to take place. The younger a creature is, the more likely such a change is to take place as well, with them being most receptive during their main growth stages. Once a creature has matured into adulthood, it is unlikely they will encounter such a metamorphosis, as the amount of Radiance needed is significantly more.

Most commonly, this mutation will appear within the younger years of a creature’s lifecycle, often during the main growth stages. After a creature has matured into adulthood, the mutation will almost never be introduced, although it is possible in extreme circumstances.

Phoenix-born are commonly known for attributes that are comparable to a phoenix, hence the name. Phoenix-born are capable of accelerated healing, enhanced strength and speed, and resurrection capabilities. Most notably are their affinity to fire, or fire type magics.

Often, this manifests within them as pyromancy, and pyrokinesis, allowing them to summon and manipulate flame. This includes feats such as; Breathing fire, creating fire spouts, creating walls of fire, creating weapons from fire, covering limbs in fire.

These capabilities allow Phoenix-born to become formidable fighters and warriors, and often many of them will experience some warping of their personality to lean more towards such lifestyles. Whether it’s an increase in risk taking behaviour, such as through thrill seeking, or becoming more prone to start or respond to fights.
