Deities

Deities are powerful beings that exist between realities. Some are tied to specific realities, whilst others have ties to multiple. They are beings of immense power and influence, often able to exert their influence over realities, altering or reshaping them. Deities often have their power related to an aspect that shapes them. An idea, or concept of which they draw their power from, which in turn defines the influence they are able to exert. The stronger this aspect within a reality, the stronger the deity’s influence.

Demi-deities

Demi-deities are deity-like beings that have ascended to the power of deities. Often, they originate from within a reality, and whilst some may continue to reside within said reality, others may move outside of that reality. The main defining difference between a demi-deity, and a deity, is that deities are created, or “born” divine, whilst demi-deities ascend to divinity.

Angels

Angels are beings made by deities, often in servitude to them, often for specific roles or jobs. They often inherit some of the power or influence of their deity, with their power and abilities directly tied to said deity. Normally semi-divine in nature, they are often powerful beings, although this is not always the case.

Arch angels

Arch angels in turn are high ranking beings that are more closely tied to their deity, and in turn are far more powerful. Almost exclusively, these beings are semi-divine in nature.

Demi-angels

Demi-angels, similar to demi-deities, are not born or made as angels. Instead, they ascend to angelhood, often granted their new role by their deity. This is normally done because of their devotion to their deity, however it’s entirely upon the deity when and why this happens.

Demons

Demons, or demi-demons, start off as angels. They only become demons when they are disgraced by their deity, having turned their backs or betrayed their deity. Often stripped of their bond with their deity, their strength and power comes from another source has either been sought by them, or offered to them by another.

Acolytes

Acolytes are the lowest rung of the divine hierarchy. They are beings that have no innate divinity themselves, but are instead “marked” by a deity, angel, or demon. Almost always, these are mortals who have willingly given themselves to a divine being, or have been taken by a divine being against their will. Their “mark” binds them to the one that gave them the mark, and in turn can offer them boons in exchange for their service or worship.
